• The Predators:  George & Kathie, Jim H & Melissa, Wayne & Margo, Mike & Jeff (traveled with his parents)
  • On March 21-29, 2000 the P.A. Predators traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada for a Panam Circuit Event.  We drove about 13-14 hours a day, for 2 days, in each direction.
  • Las Vegas is quite a fun place to be.  We arrived on Mar. 22 near midnight.  Found our way to the Jockey Club, right across the Strip from Aladdin's.  People were everywhere.  So we had to walk over to Caesars Palace, past the Bellagio & Paris.  Vegas at night is incredible.  What a city!  In the middle of nowhere, huge casinos, hotels, bright lights, just jump out of the desert.  Fountains, statues, greenery, palm trees, and it was warm (unlike Saskatchewan).
  • I love this place.  You can't see everything in a few days, but we tried.  We just kept hearing about bigger and better things everywhere.  Next time, we'll see more.
  • I want to thank Mike Wyatt for taking all the pictures in Vegas.
  • e visited the field the day before (Thursday March 23), to walk the fields.  However, we lost contact with Jeff and walked them without him.
  • We were in the desert.  It was a new field, which just opened for business in Dec. 1999.
  • The parking lot and 1/2 of the fields had just been bulldozed in Dec.  Lots of dust!!
  • The owners were a friendly pair of Bill's.  They had a concession stand which sold sodas (not pop).  Not to mention that a Vodka Paralyzer becomes a Colorado Bulldog at the U.S. Border.
  • The Panam staff had just started setting up (tents, tables, trailer, etc.), but you needed to bring everything (tables, chairs, tents, etc.) yourself.
  • Diablo had a semitrailer for the paint (with temp. control), just stopping through on the way to a delivery.
  • Somebody else filled High Pressure Air tanks.  Don't put anything on your High Pressure Air Tanks (stickers, paint, etc.), as one kid found out the hard way.  He had paid $300 to paint his tank to match his gun.  This rendered the tank unfillable, by the fill staff, as you can't cover-up any fibre wrapping or labels with anything (you might be trying to hide some damage).
  • There were 7 fields: 4 "bush" fields, one barrel, one pallet and one Sup'Air.
  • The first thought about the fields were: SMALL!!  All the Bush fields and the Sup'Air would each quite easily fit within my Bale Field.  One bush field was less than 1/2 the Bale Field.
  • Cover was short, it was a crawling mans game.  Shorter than my Small Field.
  • Plus it was hot.  All days had the temp. above 80oF and sometimes would push into the 90's.  This was Okay walking around, but playing was hot.
  • Most teams walking the fields were quite friendly.  They loved our quote, "Last sunday, we played in -10."  Most players were from CA, AZ & NV, and could not imagine that cold (they were not coming to visit ever!).  We were the crazy Canadians who drove to Vegas, in 2 days.
  • We saw Wes Wong wondering around looking for a new location for an upcoming event too.  The conversation went like this:
    • Hi Wes.
    • Hi George. [Big pause]  George, what are you doing here?
    • Just playing.
    • What are you doing here Wes?
    • Just scouting the field to use in the future.  Where's Jim & Jim?
    • You should see them soon. We drove.
    • Are you crazy?  I'm just a few hours away & I flew.
  • Every time we travel, Wes seems to be there.
  • The vendors (about 5) were starting to set-up.  It sure is great to have vendors at the field.
